Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, raised in Wellington) is the name of a Canadian actress from Canada. Paquin is a native of Winnipeg, raised in Wellington and first made her acting debut as Flora McGrath when she played the role in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 for Best supporting Actress. Anna Paquin's full name is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, on the 24th of July 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was an Canadian native New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won the Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the talkative and inquisitive young girl Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the award. The actress was chosen to play Flora McGrath the daughter of the muffled Scottish pianist who, in the mid-19th century moves back to New Zealand for an arranged marriage when she responded to an audition open to all; she was nine years old. She had little previous acting experience. As a teenager she emigrated from New Zealand to United States. Paquin was played as the title child in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in the year 1996. Also, she was a leading part on the screen in Fly Away Home, a film from the same year. Paquin was a part-time actress in the TV film of 1997 adaptation of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding. The actress also played the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (2007). She portrayed teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). In addition, she played the role of a teen girl named Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
