Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family and community service. One of the first things he did is to help the Selmon family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids in a Eufala farm. In second football, he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. During his three-year tenure as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and captured two national titles. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given an award for his third time in 1975. Selmon received his bachelor's diploma in education. Lee Roy's fourth service was ten-hours per week in volunteer work during college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Also, he began an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, he was working as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of the most notable young men. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6'2 inches. When he was playing college, he commanded the team of 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
